Cribbage Tournament – Come Join the FUN!!
The cribbage tourneys at PTC on June 16
and June 19 were dups of each other.
Same people placed first,
second and third. The best news is that
the women came through and took two
places out of three.
Both games, Sheri Vertina was second and
Lee Konan came in third. Mr Bob
Buntrock got into first
place both times by some odd accident we
figure. Bob is a good player we agree,
but to take first
place two times in a row is becoming
boring!! We will be out for blood in
two weeks when we resume
playing on July 17. Games are open to
anyone who would like to join in at 1
PM.
A good time was had by all and the
snacks were superb!
Cribbage....
...is back!!
Sam took first place, . . . lucky again. Mr. Bunt placed second
and Dan third,
so next time it is the women's turn. Sheri had an unusually high
hand of 28 points.
It is decided to play again in two weeks on Sunday, June 19 at Pine
Tree Cove Resort
at 1 pm. Anyone is welcome, just let us know. 875.2088

Dear all
"Cribbage News" followers; the last tourney was held on
August 22,
but we have not written an article because it is getting so
boring to keep telling
you that Dan Vertina won first again. We don't really think
he is that good,
but we don't think the rest of us are getting worse either,
so we can just conclude
that he is either cheating or "Lady Luck" has shone upon him
lately for some reason.
On this date, Bob Buntrock came in second, and of course,
Sherri Vertina had to come in third.
Others present were Lee Konen, bean counter - Sam Bernick,
and a newby, Ennis Robertson from Mpls/Fla.
The biggest
news is that we have one more challenge on the calendar.
Please stop by at Pine Tree Cove Resort and join us. It is
Sunday, September 12 at 1 pm.
Everyone!!! Please practice so we can get a new winner for a
change!!
We just can't wind up the season with one person holding so
many winnings, can we?
Actually, Dan, you are a good player!

Was heard; Finally!
It’s about time! The curse is broken!
First place went to
Sam Bernick, as he expected! Jerry Strieff came in second, and Dan
Vertina placed third.
A new policy by the
writer of this column, is to not mention any names of people who got
skunked,
due to the sensitivity of the participants. The other players in
order of their placement were;
Sheri Vertina, Zach Karasek, Mariah Hart and last, but not least,
was Bob Buntrock.
The “non-winners” were good sports and I’m sure will try to do
better in the future.
The next scheduled
cribbage tournament will be Sunday, August 22 at1:00 P.M. at Pine
Tree Cove Resort.

Kabetogama Cribbage Tournament, June 7
“I finally won first place, now I don’t have to come back any
more!” That is the comment Dan Vertina made when the
score was added up and he took first place and his bride, Sheri,
took second. Wow, “They cleaned our clock,” were
the comments from the peanut gallery. Mr Buntrock took third place.
A pre-tournament, warm-up game was played between Mr. Bunt and Mr.
Bernick, and someone was skunked,
the latter mentioned. That set the tone for “competitive ribbing”
rest of the afternoon, and alas, Mr B. did not place in
the top three. No feelings were hurt, and everyone has remained
friends. A moment of silence was taken to acknowledge
the cribbage players who were sorely missed, but with them in
spirit, Leverne Oveson and Mingo, (Richard McGregor).
Lee Konen brought a wonderful rhubarb cake, and also present were
Dick Ostman, and Jerry Strieff.
Everyone present wanted to play again next Sunday, but Mr. Bernick
who seems to be calling the shots,
said, “No, I need more time to recover. If you want to play, just
come down most any time and challenge me.”
The next scheduled cribbage tournament will be Sunday, June 20, at
1:00 P. M, at PTC again.
Week 2
At the June 20th
cribbage “Masters” tournament at Pine Tree Cove Resort,
a fun time had by all. The scorekeeper (Bob Buntrock) came in first
place (??)! Second place
winner was Dan Vertina who walked in and said, “I never win, I never win,”
but, come on
Dan, “HELLO,” you won first place two weeks ago! Jerry Strieff took
third place.
Good job all you winners, for we know you were on pins and needles
with a close
race for high score. Other participants were Sherri Vertina, Lee
Konen, Sam Bernick,
Karen Huth and the newby, Dianne Gorder from Sartell.
Diane was interviewed
after the game when the other players had gone. “So, what did
you think of the locals and their game, Diane.” She commented that
they are really a
fun group of people, good cribbage players, and that she had enjoyed
her time. She did
wonder tho, why some folks seem to like to pick on Sam, being the
“Sweet Ole Boy,”
(s.o.b. for short) because he is so calming, generous and sharp?
Thanks to Sherri and
Dan for bringing some wonder nibbles and a great homemade salsa.
Please join this “nutty” group of folks for the next tourney. We
plan on playing the same
place, same time (1 P.M.) on June 27, since a two week spread would
be July 4, and that
isn’t a good time. Just show up or call Sam at 875.2088 to be part
of history!!
